The DreamGuard V2 works with almost every bed type. Here's what to check.
Mattress thickness
The rails support mattresses up to 40cm thick. That covers most mattresses, but it's worth measuring if you have a pillow-top.
Bed base types
Ensemble bases — yes. An ensemble works like a box spring base, and the flat continuous surface makes for a very stable installation.
Slatted bases — yes. The Foot Plates are what anchor the rail on a slatted base, so we'd recommend the Enhanced or Ultimate set rather than the Essential.
Box spring bases — yes.
Recessed and inset frames — yes. Our rails are made a few centimetres shorter than standard mattress lengths specifically so they sit flush within the frame rather than fouling on the sides.
Drop-in frames — yes, same as above.
Gas lift beds — please read this
The rails are compatible with gas lift frames, but the lifting mechanism cannot be used while the rails are installed.
The rails and Foot Plates sit under the mattress. Attempting to lift the base with them in place puts pressure on both, which can damage the rails or the bed frame itself.
If you need to access the storage underneath, the rails must be removed first and reinstalled afterwards.
If you use that storage regularly, this is worth weighing up before ordering.
Headboards
Compatible with most headboards. If you have an exceptionally thick headboard, the Enhanced Safety Set is usually the better fit, as a 4-sided enclosure may not sit neatly against it.
