Yes, you can buy single rails separately. But there's something important to know first.
A single rail needs extra support
A rail on its own won't stay rigid. Without something bracing it, it can bow outward under pressure rather than holding firm.
There are two ways to secure a single rail:
1. Screw installation — fixing the rail to your bed base. The most secure option if your base allows it.
2. The U-Bar Connector — our screwless solution, designed specifically for single-rail setups. Sold separately.
Important: the U-Bar is for single rails only
The U-Bar Connector is not suitable for 3-sided sets. Using more than one causes the base rails to overlap and sit unevenly, resulting in a slanted rail and compromised security.
What about two rails in parallel?
If you're putting one rail down each side of the bed without joining them at a corner, each rail counts as its own single-rail installation. Each one needs either screw installation or a U-Bar Connector.
Foot Plates and Y-Band Ropes won't do this job — their role is connecting the base to the bed, not holding a lone rail rigid.
Rails joined at a corner are different
Two or more rails connected at a corner brace each other, so they don't need a U-Bar at all. A multi-sided set is self-supporting.
Adding a rail to an existing set
If you already have a 3-sided set and want to add a fourth rail to complete an enclosure, the rails join with a multi-sided connector at each corner. Each single rail ships with one connector included — but completing a four-sided setup can leave you one short at the final corner.
If that happens, get in touch and we'll organise an extra connector for you.
